When King David spoke those words and wrote those words, there were no printing presses. Many copies of the Bible were hand written by scribes. The Bible was written on scrolls of the best available materials. But only the rich or rulers could afford a hand written Bible.

In Nazareth, Jesus went into the synagogue. Then He stood up and volunteered to read from the Scroll of the Scriptures. He was handed the Scroll of Isaiah the Prophet. He read just two verses, as recorded in Luke 4: 18 & 19. Then He sat down and began to teach the people in the most gracious words that they had ever heard.

Since the invention of the printing press, with its moveable type, and now with many other inventions for making copies of the Bible. it is possible for almost everyone in America to obtain their own copy of God's Book, The Holy Bible.

But even so, we receive letters every day from prisoners in jails and prisons telling us that there are not many Bibles available, but someone has told them that they can always get a good study Bible by asking Chaplain Ray to send one!

For many years our ministry has sent a good study Bible to every prisoner who has written to ask for a Bible!

So far this year we have printed more than 76,000 Bibles, all to be given free to prisoners. But every Christian can provide some; every church can and should provide some. Every jail and prison ministry needs to find a place where they can get the most Bibles, the most economical Bibles, and for the least amount of dollars.

As you know, for many years we have provided Bibles and Study Books and LifeChanging Books to hundreds of jail and prison ministries with the "Matching Funds" Program. That program is still available to you for Bible Study Books and LifeChanging Books, but no longer applies to the Bibles.
